AirBNB

Dear guest,

Welcome to Amsterdam – the city I moved to 5 years ago, and which I’m in love with since then. For whatever reason you’re visiting this city: I hope you have a wonderful time. You probably did already your research to list the highlights this city has to offer. Briefly, I would like to share you mine. My favorite museums are without any doubt the Van Gogh Museum as well as the Foam Photography Museum. My favorite restaurants are THT (high quality food served tapas-style; located in Amsterdam Noord, behind Central Station), Kjantil & de Tijger (Indonesian food; located in the city center), and Mexico Boulevard (located in the Rivierenbuurt). For quick bites I prefer Vapiano (Italian, located in Rembrandtplein and near Central Station), or Burger Bar (with locations at Rembrandtplein and Red Light District). In my neighborhood, I prefer Biertuin (great beer selection, but they have amazing rotisserie chicken), Boi Boi (one of the best Thai in town), or Wilde Zwijnen (fancy dining) if it can be a bit more exquisite. For a quick bite, Roopram Roti offers the best Suriname cuisine. Every day (exept Sundays), the Dapperstraat also hosts the Dappermarkt, with the best döner kebab in town. Don’t forget the local breweries: Brouwerij ‘t IJ (located in a windmill) is located somewhat around the corner (my favorite is the IPA); Brouwerij de Prael is located in the Red Light District and offer, besides their good food selection (and very tasty bitterballen). For more heavier drinks, I can recommend you Wynand Fockink juniper tasting. For everyday groceries, check the Albert Heijn chain. One is located in this street, a 5 minute walk up north.

In addition, I have some more logistical information. My apartment is conveniently located, close to a number of public transportation options. To head to the city center, you can either catch a train at Muiderpoort Station around the corner to head Central Station. Check the website of the NS (Nationale Spoorwegen – the railway company) for more information about train options. An alternative is to jump on tram 9 or 14, which is a little walk to their respective tram spots, which will bring you to Rembrandtplein, which is a good starting point to explore the city. To head to Leidseplein – for going out, or to be more closer to the Museum area – tram 7 is a good option. Another decent option to go to Museumplein (Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, and Concertgebouw) is tram 3, which almost stops in front of my apartment. To check tram times, try 9292.nl or simply Google Maps.

Let me end this brief information letter by giving some more practical information about my apartment. Feel free to make it your home during your stay, but please don’t smoke inside, respect the neighbors (no loud noise after 10pm), and don’t trash it 🙂 The television and dvd-player can be controlled by the Logitech universal remote control (Netflix is on channel 200), or by the Harmony app on my kitchen iPad. To listen to music (in the living room or separately in the bedroom), feel free to use the Sonos app on the iPad, which has Spotify integrated. But as you stay in one of the most amazing places in the world, I strongly recommend you to enjoy this city as much as possible. If you have further questions, please send an email to support@iambnb.nl, or in urgent cases to reeskens@gmail.com. Please leave feedback after your stay. Enjoy Amsterdam!

Best regards,

Tim
